Mid Century Side Table in ASCP French Linen

Well I'm afraid the plank headboard I promised is still a work in progress. Lol! I have the wood ready and the angle iron cut. I just need my sixteen year old son home long enough to do some welding for me!!!

In the mean time I'll show you a piece of furniture I painted for my latest client, Karen. She recently renovated the upstairs of her home and is in the process of decorating it. Karen brought me two keep sake pieces to makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The first piece was a mid-century side table that once belonged to her aunt and the second was her grandmother's antique ironing board.

Like many furniture pieces from this era, 

the majority of the side table was constructed from wood laminate.

One of the greatest qualities of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is that
it adheres to a variety of surfaces including

wood, veneer, laminate, and fabric.

Karen chose to have her aunt's table painted in French Linen with a dark wax.

I think it turned out great!

I don't get a lot of requests to use dark wax,

 but I love the aged and authentic patina it gives furniture.

Especially when the dark wax is paired against

 

the subtle grey hues of the French Linen chalk paint. 

It's truly a beautiful combination!
