For Sale: White Washed Dresser with Attached Chalk Board

This summer I bought a dresser online while we were away on vacation. I have to admit, my heart dropped a little when I eventually picked it up. The poor little thing just looked so pathetic in person! Lol!

The dresser sat in our garage for over a month while I pondered what to do with it.
I finally decided my best option was to dismantle it like a piece of equipment
and use it for parts.
The mirror could be a chalkboard, the drawers under the bed storage, etc.

I started by taking the broken mirror out and replacing it with a chalk board
I made with a piece of 1/4" masonite and Rust-Oleum Chalk Board paint.

Then I started stripping the paint off the drawers.
About half way through the process a new idea hit me.
Go white washed beachy!
I quickly switched gears and am so thankful I did.

Here's the final product:

What'cha think?

 Yeah...

I     LOVE     IT     !!!

The black chalk board and waxed white washed wood

look great against the Annie Sloan Pure White Chalk Paint.

I added faux mercury glass knobs for a little sparkle.

They're a great contrast to the rustic wood patina.

Whether it's placed in an entryway...

a bedroom...

or a porch...

this one of a kind piece will attract a lot of attention in your home.

I'm selling the piece for $200 - SOLD.
Let me know if you are interested in purchasing it.

Oh and before I forget...

Burlap Cork Boards

Hi all! I spent some time in the basement going through the storage room last week. It's not a large space, but it's my space, and I love it. It serves as a safe haven for all of the junk I can't or won't part with yet. It's also where I store the decorations, my someday projects, and the occasional impulse purchase I'm not ready to reveal to my husband.

These cork boards are one of the many someday projects that have been vying for my attention. After tripping over them for the third time I decided they should move from a someday project to a today project.

The boards are 18" x 24" and 36" x 48".
I picked up them up at local garage sales
paying $1 for the small board and $2 for the large one.

There wasn't a lot of prep work with this project.
I used an adhesive spray glue to marry burlap to the front of the boards.
Then I wrapped the fabric around the edges and stapled it to the back.

Finally I added nailhead trim around the perimeter of the boards.

I purchased the trim online.
It was kind of spendy but I have a lot of someday projects
planned for these lil'guys
(e.g. tufted headboard, mirror, furniture, etc.).

Here are the finished boards.

What'cha think?

I love'em!

Especially with the nailhead trim!
It really gives the cork boards a finished look.
Ballard Designs sells a similar product...

...but for a pretty penny.

I used both pewter and bronze nailheads.

One board is for my daughter's room and the other will be displayed in our hallway.

I'm so excited to fill the boards with keepsake photos
like this one of my Grandma Rachel.

Love, Love, Love this lady!

As always thanks for reading 13CCF. I hope to have some pieces ready to sell by next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Getting "Hammered" at the River!

Last weekend I got "hammered" at the river!

Rust-Oleum Hammered that is!!!
You see our cabin is like the youngest child in our family.
It gets all of our hand-me-down furniture, cookware, bedding, etc.
I decided it was time to give the bedrooms a little attention,
particularly the old metal beds.

We have a full size and two twin size metal beds at our cabin.
Sure the beds were 'fine' for the river,
but I have a hard time settling for fine if I think there is a potential for more.
I decided to paint the frames with a metalic spray paint.

I found the Rust-Oleum Hammered line at our local True Value store.
Of course I couldn't decide which color to use
(big surprise there)
so I bought both the light gray and the dark gray shades.

I ended up painting the two twin beds with the darker metalic
and the full sized bed with the light gray color.

Here's the final product:

What'cha think?

I love their new look!

For just a few dollars the beds now have a modern, industrial vibe

that will work perfectly with some of the

other 13CCF furniture pieces that have made their way to the river.

I never thought I would say this,
but getting Hammered was the smartest decision I've made in a long time.
The next time you're in need of a decorating buzz
you should give Rust-Oleum Hammered a try.
There's no headache or regrets with this stuff!!!

As always thanks for reading 13CCF! Have a great week!

FOR SALE: Paris Grey & Country Grey Tables

I have two tables FOR SALE this week. They're cross posted on several online garage sale sites so don't hesitate if you are interested!

The first piece is a Queen Ann drop leaf coffee table

refinished in ASCP Paris Grey.

What'cha think?

Oh...I love it.

Paris Grey is one of my favorite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors.
My kitchen cabinets are actually finished in Paris Gray.

It has a very subtle gray-blue hue
which looks beautiful against the table's distressed Queen Ann legs.

This isn't just "another pretty coffee table".
She's very sturdy, is a great size at 54 inches in length,
and has expandable drop leaves on each side.
(Probably should have taken a picture of that, huh? My bad.)

If not a coffee table,
I really think this piece would look beautiful displayed at the end of a bed
with a few baskets or blankets.

I am asking $165 for this piece.  SOLD

I think it's worth every penny.

Approximately 24" W x 54" L x 16.5" H

The second piece I have FOR SALE is an oval cocktail table
refinished in a custom mix of ASCP Country Grey and French Linen.

What'cha think?

I. Love. It.

It looks like something from Ballard Designs.

The table has a cane inset with a beveled glass top,

a slender 'X' frame with a faux bamboo base,

 and (drumroll please)...

 awesome casters.

I found it (aka...hit the jackpot) at a consignment store.

I really wish I could have found out the history of the piece.

I'm asking $170 for this table.
Let me know if you're interested!

Approximately 22" W x 34" L x 20" H

As always thanks for visiting 13CCF. Hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July weekend.
God Bless America!
